Data Health Check and De-Duping

A database is only as good as the data you put in to it.  For that reason we believe in keeping data as clean as possible.  We arrange to have donor information compared with national databases such as the NCOA (National Change of Address – to find forwarding addresses for movers), PAF® (Postcode Address File – used to make sure addresses are correct against the Royal Mail database), "Gone-aways" (donors who have moved with no forwarding address), deceaseds (database of people who have died) and the Mail-Sort list (to reduce mail-out charges).  The main benefit with these is to be able to follow your donors and reduce costs of mail-outs.

We also run a variety of checks on our database to locate and consolidate duplicate donors.  This again keeps the costs of mail-outs down and also makes reporting more accurate.
